The shown system uses the psychrometric method to measure the relative humidity in the drying chamber. The specialized controller with two inputs – for the “dry” and “wet” thermometers – is equipped with two relay control outputs. One of these outputs reduces the humidity in the chamber by activating a fan to expel moist air, while the other increases the humidity by activating a solenoid valve to supply steam or hot water. An ON/OFF control law is used with a programmable pulse mode ON, meaning that when the actuator (fan or valve) is activated, the on and off times can be set periodically. This way, moisture is added or removed in portions.
